Pressing “Immortal Auditory” was a pleasure and an honor as Mic Bles was not just another client for us but an artist who collaborates closely with the Mind The Wax label and he features in our own tracks as well!
Not to mention that this album is so awesome that got the recognition of the Universal Hip Hop Museum!

Oxnard, California emcee Mic Bles garnered his recognition thru the years as a hardcope lyricist for this variation in rhymes schemes with complex lyrics. Known for not following trends and dropping authentic quality Boom Bap, Mic Bles deivers the Immortal Auditory LP. A no-frills lyrically dense underground masterpiece that plays like new vintage Hip-Hop.

“My initial inspiration for this album and title came from the cover artwork that I had made for me prior to recording the music itself. The mechanical face artwork really lent itself to creating something aggressive and long lasting so I wanted to make something raw that could be a classic.

This was also why it was important for me to have this project on vinyl. Something that is tangible and can be kept forever and passed along for generations. Hence the title Immortal Auditory: meaning “sound that lasts forever” which we used as the theme throughout the album.”

“I wanted to release a project that was focused on my skills as an MC. Something focused on raw Hip-Hop, two turntables with a microphone spitting bars and really putting my stamp down as a top tier lyricist. I enlisted some of the best up and coming underground Boom Bap producers and emcees for this project. Working with Legendary wordsmiths such as Planet Asia and Chino XL along with the highly skilled DJs on these tracks came together to really create this underground masterpiece of raw Hip-Hop.“

The album is recognized by the UHHM (Universal Hip Hop Museum) in Bronx NY Archives and collections

The 13-track album, Immortal Auditory, is pressed on a 12 inch marbled grey/black vinyl of 140gr. The LP is available via Mic Bles’ Bandcamp page.

Pressing the Bamboo EP from Firetail

We got excited to press this record not only because it sounds great but also because Firetail is our first client from Australia!

Firetail is a 6-piece jazz/world/psych band from Melbourne. Their music spans from 70’s jazz-fusion, South Indian Carnatic music and Melbourne’s very own brand of jazz-tronica. The band has developed an ambient approach to song-writing that mixes bass heavy rhythms with evocative melodies and driving percussion and we regularly work with guest instrumentalist and vocalist.

After spending a lot of time in their home studio in their garage, experimenting with different effects, the came up with their debut EP “Bamboo” which was finally released on September the 24th of 2020.

“Bamboo is our first release and we really wanted to capture the experimentation and improvisational aspects of our live performances on record. We usually perform live instrumentally but for our recordings we want to work with a huge range of different singers from all sorts of styles and genres so that we can be continuously changing while still having that certain “Firetail” sound. We’re all influenced from a huge range of music and we come from lots of different cultural and musical backgrounds that really make magic when blended.”

“We basically took every part of each track like the sax or the vocals or the drums, all of it, and we re-amped them. Sometimes just through different valve amps and sometimes we ran them back through a variety of guitar pedals. I’d ride the effects through the track manually for the whole song. Most of these extra tracks weren’t used in the end but it was a lot of fun, and we got some really good results out of it. We always write and record the music first, then we give the finished product to the singer who layers over it. So as a band we never really know what the end product will sound like until the singer adds their vocals.”

The Bamboo EP has 4 tracks. The self-titled track “Bamboo” featuring Meiwa managed to receive national and international airtime. Τhe track “So Skinny” featuring Emily Bennett is an unapologetic fall down the rabbit hole, dancing with themes that range from body image to the class divide.

The Bamboo EP is pressed on a 10 inch black vinyl and is available via Firetail’s Bandcamp page. “Bamboo” was recorded at Wood St Studios. Engineered by Erik Parker and Mastered by Nick Herrera. The cover art is by Jamie McElhinney (Bassist and composer) They really wanted this music on Vinyl because they understand the relationship as collectors ourselves. If you buy someone’s music on wax you give that music more time and attention.”
