The Sameway LP: A moment in time
Meet our clients who trusted Mind The Wax to press their music on vinyl!
Pressing “Sameway” was the second time Mic Bles trusted Mind The Wax to bring in a physical life his music. As mentioned in a previous article, Mic Bles for Mind The Wax is beyond just a client as the collaboration between the artist and the label counts already many tracks and awesome music.
For once more, Mic Bles’s album is recognized by the Universal Hip Hop Museum in Bronx NY Archives and collections!
The transition between local act and becoming internationally recognized and respected is what most artists vie for, but few accomplish. Mic Bles traveled to Germay in 2008 with that perspective in mind.
As far away as California and Germany might seem Oxnard, California Emcee Mic Bles and German producer “BigLip” find common ground on Bles’s new album aptly titled “Sameway”. Sonically, the album is a mix of Boom Bap tracks and soulful, sample-filled joints that serve up 11 dope tracks that combine for a cohesive blend that makes for some timeless music.

“On my first tour in Europe, me and Hustle1 (prod) we were in Germany for a month which eventually led us to Bonn. A mutual friend there set up a studio session with a producer by the name of BigLip. We went to the session with no real plan in mind , 9 days later we left with 11 tracks and a video. It was really just like that, felt like it was meant to happen. It all kind of happened by chance.
This studio was in the center of town and was really a meeting point for many local artists in the area at the time. So everyday different rappers and singers would pop in our sessions and depending on what we were working on that day we could pull from these resources and build with them on tracks which lead to the albums several notable guest appearances. All of which sing or rap in German.“
“The album was really just inspired by the journey we had been on up until this point. We came such a long way, so to find myself on tour in Europe coming from the streets of Oxnard was just a dream. During these sessions and time their we felt we had more similarities than differences even if we are from a different part of the world. This is was what led to the album being titled “Sameway”.
For different reasons the albums official release never came to fruition for so many years until November of 2020. This is why it was so important for me to memorialize this release on vinyl. The album serves as a time capsule that plays as a soundtrack to this time in my life.“

This was my first time in Europe so it was a bit of a culture shock but at the same time it was super inspiring to have come so far with Hip-Hop. So when I was writing everything just kind of poured out of me and I was writing a song or 2 a day. Each song was really telling its own story
about what I was experiencing in real time. Songs like “Cold Hustle” where I’m talking about how cold it was and us selling CDs everyday and using that money to eat before we hit the studio that evening. Or songs like “So Far Away” talking to my girlfriend back home that was stressed out missing me. To the title track “Sameway” were we couldn’t help to see our similarities in life, all that was real.”

Sameway was released to acclaim worldwide thru radio, print and digital media respectively.
The album is recognized by the UHHM (Universal Hip Hop Museum) in Bronx NY Archives and collections.
