Meet our clients who trusted Mind The Wax to press their music on vinyl!
BANTU is one of the finest Afrobeat/Afrofunk bands in the current Nigerian music scene. After a talk with Ade, the singer of the 13-piece band, they decided to entrust Mind The Wax with the vinyl pressing and the CD replication of their 6th studio album “Everybody Get Agenda”.
Pressing the album gave me the opportunity and the pleasure to get to know Ade and and his “unconventional” style of music which is full of rhythm, energy and political messages that rocks both body and mind and reminds us all of why music is much more than entertainment but a gateway to wider our knowledge of what is happening in the world. It puts us in touch with great people and helps us raise our voices against corruption and injustices.
“The songs on the album “Everybody Get Agenda” were mostly inspired by the political turbulences in Nigeria. We felt we needed to address the sufferings of the masses and call out our elected officials and so called “leaders” who are failing us. Music has an obligation to inspire and must be used as a vehicle for change. Our goal is to entertain while passing on a message.”

“We compose all our songs as a collective. This means the entire band (13 of us!) come together at our rehearsal space and share ideas. We then flesh them out into proper songs by working on the arrangements, melodies and structure before proceeding to record them. It’s not an easy undertaking, but it brings out the best in every one of us. We avoid using samples, everything is handmade. The band consists of a horn section- trumpet, trombone and sax, drums, guitar, bass, keys, percussions, talking drum and four vocalists. BANTU is a big band!”
The songs were recorded by the producer Aman Junaid at RN Flow Studios Lagos & Blackstar Studios (also in Lagos).
The album was mixed by Manu Schlindwein in Cologne, Germany (he also did the vinyl mastering). Digital & CD mastering was done by Tony Dawsey in Atlanta, USA.
All songs were composed and arranged by BANTU.
Seun Kuti, the son of famous afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, is featured as a guest on the song “Yeye Theory”.
“The vinyl cover is gloss laminated. The vinyl itself is 140 gram and standard black. In order to ensuring we had the best sound possible, we decided to reduce the number of tracks on the vinyl release. This is first BANTU vinyl release ever, so you can imagine our excitement when we got the finished product. The vinyl sounds excellent and we’re really happy with the way it sounds.“
“We also released a CD in a digipak format with a 16 page booklet that contains all the lyrics of the songs, translated from Yoruba to English , credits, extra images, production info etc.”
