Meet our clients who trusted Mind The Wax to press their music on vinyl!
Since their formation in 1984, Argies have stood out due to their libertarian poetry, the power of their music and the understanding and coherence of their political attitude. Even though their roots can be found in the British Punk from the seventies, nowadays their music witnesses influences from Ska, Reggae, Dub and good parts of Rock’n’Roll elements and Latin rhythms.
By practicing the philosophy of “do it yourself”, they managed to make a successful career while maintaining their independence.
The name “Argies” derives from the English pejorative term for “Argentinean” which was most popularly used by the British yellow press during the Falkland War in 1982.
Far from being nationalists, their name connects the band, the members of which define
themselves as internationalists, with debased minorities and marginalized people worldwide.
By the mid nineties, Argies left their hometown Rosario and moved to Buenos Aires. Since then, playing more than 35 shows annually, they came to be known as one of the most frequently performing acts in town. Starting in 1999, the band has regularly played extended tours in America, Asia and Europe.
The Band functions like a collective of committed musicians all of which form part of the project for undetermined periods, entering and leaving Argies with the same liberty that also characterizes the work in the band and the way in which its members study and teach in joint efforts across their differences.
Over the years, the band’s particular method of making music has made Argies a truly independent cultural movement.
In the album “Reset” the band reflexes the last two or three years of the society, touching topics such as the social change concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, the new order rules in the world, the repetitive speech from the media for the climate change and the energy crisis. Music-wise, Argies keep the flame burning by playing classical Rock, mixed with Latin music and Ska elements, with the stamped roots of Punk ’77.
The artwork has a very existential view and reflects the development of the society and the technology, which are going together in one way without a clear idea. It’s like a crazy race to nowhere. Or worst, to one destiny without return. People, as consumers, are looking for happiness or satisfaction, or almost just desperately to be a part in the society but behind a screen. The idea of the artwork is to show “When it all started”. And this is when the human discovered the fire.
The production of “RESET”, like the last 5 or 6 studio albums of the band, passed through the same process: As some members living in Argentina and some in Germany, the band recorded everyone’s parts in different studios and then, David (the main vocalist and guitarist of the banc) collected all the recordings to mix them in Germany. Some tracks were mixed in Berlin and some tracks at his place near Essen.
Normally Argies used to record old vintage instruments, analog drums, and depending on the studio, more analog hardware, mostly in the great studio in Berlin “Tricone Studios“, placed in the iconic old “Funkhaus” studios, ex DDR.
The “Reset” LP was pressed on 140gr black vinyl, on limited 300 copies and it includes 12 tracks.
The artwork was designed by “Mauricio Jelsich Studio” in Argentina.
